First Sock Knitting with Jessie Wayburn

Are you looking for a new knitting challenge? Have you considered SOCKS?
Socks are the perfect summer project, light and fast, it is an easy one to throw in your tote and to knit absolutely anywhere. Whether you are watching a baseball game, attending a music festival, on the subway, going to the beach or a park picnic with your besties, socks will become your favorite. By using a worsted-weight yarn, you’ll delight in the swift work up of the socks. Think of house socks as holiday gifts for loved ones (or yourself!) and sweet quick presents for kids and babies.
Once you learn the construction, the variations will be endless!
Join Jessie Wayburn for two 3-hour sessions to learn the basics of top-down sock construction. You will use a “recipe” that will produce a pair of socks that fit you (or your recipient) perfectly. You’ll need to know:
- long tail cast on,
- knit stitch,
- purl stitch,
- and bind off.
Skills offered will be:
- increases and decreases,
- simple knitting math,
- picking up stitches,
- short rows,
- and the kitchener stitch.

During the first session you will complete the cuff and the heel of the first sock. At home you will knit the second sock following what you learned in class. Then, in the second session, you will finish the foot and learn how to knit the toe of the first sock. You will finish the second sock on your own!
Materials:
- worsted or aran weight yarn (with or without nylon, preferable to use wool - avoid acrylic or cotton/plant-based yarn),
- US size 7 or 8 double pointed needles
- tapestry needle
Cancellation/refund policy: No refunds will be offered within 1 week of class. Cancellations prior to one week before class are eligible for store credit. Cancellations are subject to a $10 processing fee and your store credit will be the balance of your class fee. Your credit is not eligible for refund. Classes do not include individual Make-up sessions. If your teacher has offered to schedule a make-up class and you have scheduled to be there and do not show up, then your make-up class is forfeited and will not be re-scheduled. Visiting teachers' classes are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. We run these classes based on enrollment...paying in advance for visiting teachers to travel and hold workshops and can not offer any credit for any reason.
