Class open to students 18 and older.
Have you always wanted to learn how to sew? Join us for this 3-hour class where you will learn how to thread a sewing machine, wind a bobbin, set stitch length and width, and sew straight and zigzag seams. Students will learn some essential sewing vocabulary, get an overview of how the machine works, basic care, and tips for fabric, thread, and needle choice. At the end of class students will have made a 9x13" drawstring project bag. Materials you will need for this class include: 1/2 yd of woven fabric, thread to match, a few pieces of scrap fabric, a Bernina sewing bobbin and 2 yards of 1/2" or smaller cording, ribbon, or fabric tape for your drawstring. Materials can be purchased at Brooklyn General Store. Please visit the shop in the days before class to get your materials. You will not be able to shop the same day as class. You can also place your order online in the days leading up to class for "local pickup" and it will be ready that day.
This class is your gateway to more advanced sewing classes and projects!
All class sessions meet on Saturdays or Sundays from 10-1 pm.
