Knitted braids are the perfect embellishment for any project to make it just a little more special. The Baltic countries of Latvia and Estonia have many different styles of braids that have added interesting details to mittens, gloves, socks, and sweaters. Learn three different braid types as well as experimenting with colour combinations and directionality.
SKILL LEVEL: advanced beginner / intermediate knitter; students should be comfortable to knit and purl in the round with two colours at a time (easy colourwork), cast-on, bind -off
LENGTH : 3 hours in person
HOMEWORK: Students will be given instructions to have their swatch cast-on to continue knitting in the workshop
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- US 6 / 4mm needles for knitting small circumference (Double pointed needles orcircular needles for magic loop)
- Stitch markers
- DK-weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors,approx. 20g of each color at a time)
Cancellation/refund policy: No refunds will be offered within 1 week of class. Cancellations prior to one week before class are eligible for store credit. Cancellations are subject to a $10 processing fee and your store credit will be the balance of your class fee. Your credit is not eligible for refund. Classes do not include individual Make-up sessions. If your teacher has offered to schedule a make-up class and you have scheduled to be there and do not show up, then your make-up class is forfeited and will not be re-scheduled. Visiting teachers' classes are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. We run these classes based on enrollment...paying in advance for visiting teachers to travel and hold workshops and can not offer any credit for any reason.
