Mystical Stitches Embroidery with Christi Johnson

Learn these off-the-beaten-path, not so basic stitches for expanding your thread vocabulary! I'll be sharing some of my favorite techniques for adding exciting textures, covering large areas in dimensional and interesting ways, and adding decorative borders and embellishments. Part design class and part stitch lesson, we'll also look at traditional embroideries from around the world to see how the basic stitches can be transformed into a multitude of opportunities.

I chose these stitches for the rhythm that hypnotizes and mesmerizes as you move along - they're not necessarily complicated, but do require previous understanding of such stitches as the stem stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, and chain stitch.If you already have a solid understanding of these basic embroidery stitches, you'll love learning these slightly more advanced stitches, many of which move along quite quickly when you get into the flow.
