This 3-week course offers a hands-on introduction to the basics of quilting using a sewing machine. With a few easy “stripping” techniques and a little creativity, students will learn to design, piece, and quilt a small wall hanging, a set of potholders or another small project of their choosing. This workshop provides an introduction to commonly used quilting jargon and techniques in a relaxed atmosphere.Materials: Fabric Scraps or a total of 1 yard of assorted cotton fabrics, 1 yard of cotton fabric for backing, cotton quilt batting, 80/12 and 90/14 universal sewing machine needles, and 100% cotton quilting thread.Students may purchase materials as needed throughout the class. Please bring fabrics that inspire you or that you plan to use for your project to the first class.
