Learn to Sew - Drawstring Bag

Have you always wanted to learn to sew? Or are you a crafter who wants to make your own project bags? Come learn the basics of sewing in this beginner level three hour class, and walk away with a finished product! You will learn common fabric and sewing terminology, layout and cutting techniques, how to thread your sewing machine and wind a bobbin, make and finish a seam, different ways to finish raw fabric edges, topstitching, and pressing. In the end you'll have a cute little drawstring bag for projects, toiletries, art supplies, gifts, etc.

Cost does not include materials, but we offer students a 10% discount on supplies purchased for the class. Required materials include:

• One half yard piece of cotton fabric for the exterior layer (canvas or quilting cotton reccommended) 
• One half yard piece of quilting cotton fabric or muslin for the lining
• Two yards of 1/2" wide ribbon or twill tape for the drawstring
• 3/4 yard webbing (strap material)
• Matching thread. Students receive a 10% discount on supplies purchased for the class.
  

Please come early to make sure you have enough time to pick out your supplies before the class starts! You are welcome to bring your own materials if you already have something on hand.

Saturday, March 28th 1-4pm  Class size is limited to six students.
