Explore the world slow fashion in this one-day workshop with textile artist Heather Love. In this 4 hour workshop students will learn the basics of mending and embellishment for both woven and knit fabrics. We'll cover 4 basic sewing stitches - running stitch, back stitch, whip stitch and invisible stitch. In addition, students will learn various re-weaving, re-knitting and needle-felting techniques. The aesthetic and utilitarian uses for each technique will also be explored. Students are strongly encouraged to bring some small items to class that they wish to embellish or repair as well as a small sewing kit, an array of fun scraps and a playful curiosity. Total newbie with nothing on hand? That's ok, there are plenty of materials available for purchase at Brooklyn General Store on the day of class.
